3 Day Trek From Imlil To Ourika Valley Setti Fadma
This unforgettable guided 3-day tour starts and finishes in the vibrant city of Marrakech, and includes a 3-day trek from Imlil in the High Atlas Mountains to Setti Fadma in the beautiful Ourika Valley. This easy to medium 29km trek includes high windswept passes, wild and rocky landscapes, and a long descent into the upper Ourika Valley, a heavily cultivated area where countless green terraces and shady walnut groves cascade down the steep mountainsides. We travel to and from Marrakech by 4×4 or minibus.
Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Imnane valley – Tachedirt.
After being picked up from where you are staying in Marrakech at around 8:30 am, you will be transferred to Mouly Brahim Gorges onto the Berber town of Imlil (1750m). Imlil is situated in the upper foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, a natural paradise where trails set out in all direction. Here, we leave our vehicle. Meet up with Mount Toubkal team guide and muleteer for traditionnal Berber tea before we start our trekking adventure.
Lunch Break on the Tamatert pass, overlooking Jebel Oukaimeden (3205m). After lunch, you we will continue our path to the traditional Berber village before we arrive Tachedirt, where we will spend the night. You will stay in a Berber guesthouse will be simple and basic but has beds with foam mattresses. The food will be cooked by the Mount Toubkal Expedition cook who is traveling with you. 4 hours walking.
Day 2: Tachedirt –Iaabassen – Timichi.
After helping to load our mules and a good breakfast, we start our trek to the terraced village of Timichi (1850m), and walk uphill to Tizi N’Tachedirt (3200m), where a stunning panoramic view of jebel Aksoul (3840m) affords, on one side and Bou Igenoune Mountain (3890m). On the other side. Stretching out, way below, is the beginning of the beautiful, verdant Ourika Valley. From here traverse the pass and continue down through the rocks for a further 2H30 walk until you reach the Berber village of Iaabassen (2040m) the surrounding mountains. We stop for our picnic lunch at the Berber village of Iaabassen (2030m) and then continue our trek down to the oldest village of Timichi, where we will spend the night. We will stay in a Berber guesthouse will be simple and basic but has beds with foam mattresse.
Day 3: Timichi – Agadir N’ait Boulmane – Setti Fadma – Marrakech.
After breakfast, set out for a 4 to 5 hours walking eastwards down along the valley, full of cornfields and walnuts groves, passing through the villages of Isghouarne and Tiourdiw and Agadir N’ait boulmane to arrive at the end of the beautiful Ourika valley proper and the renowned Berber village of Sitti fatma. Here, amongst the ancient nut trees and waterfalls just outside of the village, your cook will stop to prepare your lunch, before hiking on for a further half an hour to rejoin your transport to take you back to Marrakech city. 5 hours walk, 1H30 drive.
